The Witches' Wheel of the Year is a seasonal calendar dividing the year into eight sabbats, cyclical seasonal celebrations, that are linked to solstices, equinoxes and the halfway points between those two. With the ebb and flow of darkness and light over the course of a year, it reflects the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth. The eight symbols represent the festivals of Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lammas, Mabon and Samhain. The four plants in the corners of the illustration - fern, crocus, poppy and thistle - are linked to the four seasons, symbolizing winter, spring, summer and autumn.
